Remember that wonderful book by Robert Fulghum, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten? \u00a0It came out in the late eighties, and all the words of wisdom found in that book are as true today as they were then: \u00a0Play fair; share; clean up your own mess; don\u2019t hit people; take turns; put things back where you found them; don\u2019t take things that belong to others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, when my publisher suggested that I write a book that would bring J.P. Beaumont and Brandon Walker together in one volume, I was right there. \u00a0I thought it was a great idea, and it was\u2014right up until I started writing it.<\/span><\/p>\n

It came as a big shock to me to learn that someone I have known and loved for more than thirty years had somehow missed some of those valuable kindergarten lessons. \u00a0It turns out J.P. Beaumont doesn\u2019t have the foggiest idea of how to share a book. \u00a0Oh, I understood that he had a problem with having partners\u2014for good reason, too\u2014but what I didn\u2019t understand was his complete inability to take turns.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beau has this book to himself.<\/p><\/div>\n

I\u2019d try to get started on a Walker part of the story, and Beau would just march in and take over\u2014for NO good reason! \u00a0He wanted to hog the stage. \u00a0He wanted me to tell his part of the story first. \u00a0Finally, the only way to get him to sit down and shut up was to let him have his way. \u00a0I DID tell his part of the story first, and it\u2019s \u00a0due out next week in a novella called Stand Down. \u00a0<\/i>It will be published\u00a0in both e-book and print (original paperback) formats next Tuesday, July 21. \u00a0It\u2019s an important part of Beau\u2019s saga. \u00a0You won\u2019t want to miss it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once I finally got Beau back on the straight and narrow, he shaped up and does play a pivotal part in Dance of the Bones, the Walker Family book coming in September. \u00a0And if you haven\u2019t tried the Walkers yet, you\u2019re missing out. \u00a0Start with Hour of the Hunter. \u00a0You won\u2019t be sorry.<\/span><\/p>\n
