Today is not a good day for writing, whether it\u2019s writing a book or a blog.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow Bill will undergo back fusion surgery. \u00a0He\u2019s hung in for a long time, dealing with chronic pain that has only gotten worse over time. \u00a0When he said the word \u201cfusion\u201d to me a month ago, I almost fell out of my chair.<\/p>\n
So he\u2019s done the tests; done the scans. \u00a0As one of the X-ray techs said, \u201cBoy, you have a really bad back!\u201d<\/p>\n
Knowing about Tiger Woods\u2019 back surgery issues, we watched his amazing win of the US Open with a good deal of amazement. \u00a0It gave us hope.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow\u2019s the big day. \u00a0We\u2019re worried. \u00a0We\u2019re hopeful. \u00a0We\u2019re scared.<\/p>\n
I know we\u2019ll be in many people\u2019s thoughts and prayers, and we\u2019re thanking you for those in advance.<\/p>\n

A post-op PS:<\/p>\n
The surgery is over.\u00a0 The surgeon says it went well.\u00a0 Bill says it went well.\u00a0 He can move his toes for the first time since \u2026 well .. 1985!\u00a0 Did I mention that he is stubborn?<\/p>\n
This afternoon he talked a blue streak.\u00a0 He ate seared salmon and green beans for dinner.\u00a0 Red J-E-L-L-O for dessert.\u00a0 He says his pain is at level 1.\u00a0 On a scale of one to ten it\u2019s been approximately 15 for years.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m home.\u00a0 I\u2019m tired.\u00a0 I\u2019m grateful for everything\u2014for the surgeons, the nurses, and for the two good daughters who were there with me for every minute all day long.<\/p>\n
I am truly blessed..<\/p>\n
