Last night, while watching a taped edition of America\u2019s Funniest Videos, the announcer was discussing things for which you are not required to apologize.\u00a0 \u201cIf you write a blog,\u201d he said, \u201cand if you haven\u2019t posted for a while, you don\u2019t need to apologize for that because NOBODY CARES!”<\/p>\n
And maybe that\u2019s true, but I\u2019m apologizing anyway, in advance.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s Wednesday afternoon, 4:30 PM.\u00a0 I\u2019m still in my nightgown and robe.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been working steadily since seven o\u2019clock this morning.\u00a0 At last count, I was 89.39% done with Field of Bones.\u00a0 It\u2019s supposed to be 100% done by the time we leave on our cruise on Sunday morning.\u00a0 The story that has eluded me for so long is finally coming together.\u00a0 I\u2019m well and truly on the banana peel, but I\u2019m also running out of time.\u00a0 I need to pack.\u00a0 I need to have a manicure.\u00a0 I need to breathe.<\/p>\n
And so the two hours today that I would have spent writing a blog post have been devoted instead to Joanna Brady\u2019s Cochise County Sheriff\u2019s Department.\u00a0 The newest member of the team\u2014Mojo, the pit bull K-9 replacing a now retired Spike\u2014has just gone on his first mission, proved his mettle, and gotten a treat.<\/p>\n
Sorry to say, that\u2019s it for today.\u00a0 Maybe next week, when we\u2019re cruising along off the coast of Italy, I\u2019ll be able to reach into my bag of tricks and write a cheery posting about something fun.\u00a0 In the meantime, this is all I\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n
